Equalities Through Theatre
Competency Area: Equality & Diversity level 1 Course Length: Half Day Event Aim: The course will provide an opportunity to reflect on ones own knowledge and understanding of the prejudices and discrimination that some community members /colleagues face and explore anti-discriminatory practice in Sefton, delivered through a dynamic and thought provoking approach which will bring Equality issues to life. Objectives: To further understand Equality & Diversity To be aware of the seven strands / equality groups ‘ To be able to define prejudice and discrimination To understand the difference between ‘banter’ and ‘harrassment’ To be aware of the consequences of inappropriate behaviour To consider methods to be able to challenge inappropriate language attitudes and behaviour To understand the importance of behaviour change when delivering an effective service to Sefton communities Who should attend : This training will replace part of the current Equality and Diversity Level 1 course and is mandatory for all staff working within the Social Care and Well Being Directorate, Social Care Department and they will be expected to complete level 1 by attending a follow up half day workshop. This is open to all social care contracted providers.
